Junk Mail Filtering

I run OSv10.75 on my 2008 iMac, and I have been having recurring problems with my Junk Mail filtering. The filtering works great up to a certain point (maybe 100-200 or so addresses marked as "junk" continue to be put in the junk mailbox), but then it just "forgets" new additions, and no matter how many times a mark a particular new address as "junk" (I've checked to see that the addresses are the same and therefore the filter should work), but they don't. Is there a limit to the number of addresses the filter can retain? Is there a workaround?
