I need to exchange my rMini due to a problem with the power button.

Do Genius Bar's cover exchanges?

Also, would I be able to just give them an extra $100 to exchange 32GB rMini with a 32GB Air?

Thanks!

If you bought the iPad thru Apple, don't waste your time at the Genius Bar. That's for repairs and defective replacements only.

Just take your receipt and the ipad to the Apple store front register and tell them you want to exchange for an Air. Pay the difference and you're done. They will refurbish your Mini and resell it.

Where might that register be Oh wait they don't have any. Go find a specialist and let them know whats going on and you can exchange it.

Sorry, didn't realize you'd been to every Apple store on the planet. Stop by NYC any time and I'll show you the cash wrap desks in every store here, that is if you're not too busy being cool smart guy.

ha, do they really? i've been to the one on broadway and the one in soho but don't remember seeing cash registers.

i love apple but man oh man do i hate going to apple stores... the level of pretentiousness could power a small aircraft if we could harness the power of pretentiousness to power engines.

I'll never forget the first time i bought an iPad. i walked in, looked around and thought to myself "where the F is the cash register?"
then some dude who looked like Sigourney Weaver in Alien came up to me and asked me if he could help me. When I told him I'd like to buy an iPad he asked me if i'd made an appointment. I almost walked out, but it was a gift for my wife and i had waited until the last possible minute...

TLDR: i love apple...hate the apple store.

Apple uses Macs for cash registers in their stores. At the store near me, they went from using iMacs to MacBook Pros and now back to an iMac.

IMO, they're easy to miss unless there's an employee on one side and a line of customers on the other.

And yeah, the store I worked at P/T for a few years was very big on preaching "be transformational, not transactional". Having said that, they'd setup "Express Zones" during the holidays precisely so people could have a "transactional" experience. :D

Could be. Where I worked, the EasyPay things you're talking about couldn't be used when someone wanted to pay with a check, pay with multiple tenders, or had a card with a wonky mag-stripe. We'd have to take customers back to "the register" to do those. But that was awhile ago, and it definitely wasn't in a flagship/significant store like you're talking about up in NYC! :)
