I am considering buying an iPod Touch 8GB. But I'm just wondering- how does it connect to the internet, get a map signal, get the latest stocks, access e-mails, get the weather etc. via Wi-Fi on the go? Is there a cost for this?

Also, I have an AirPort Extreme Base Station (802.11n) in my home. Will the iPod Touch pick up the internet from it?

Thanks in advance. ;)

In order to connect to the Internet you need to find a WiFi hot spot. If you have wireless in your home then yes you can connect to the Internet with your Touch.

The wifi location finding in maps only works in certain areas too, remember that. It needs to be connected to the internet too, not just connected to the hotspot.

Locate me was way off last night, said I was about 100 miles to the south than from where I really was...I assume that's the nearest end point of my internet connection, but don't know.
