I received my iPhone 4 yesterday, and it's the first iPhone I've owned. I've got to say it's been a trouble-free experience so far. The Apple staff in Eldon Square were friendly and having a bit of banter over the bumper affair, and the phone itself (SIM-free) was easy to set up at home.

I was on a 24-month contract with my Nokia 5800 at £15 p/m (for 100 minutes and unlimited texts), and I still had another 7 months left to go. I realised that I'd need to sort out some sort of data bolt-on, which would cost about an extra £7 per month.

I used O2's online support chat (or whatever it's called) and came out with a result much better than I had expected. My contract would be upgraded to the £15 p/m iPhone Simplicity tariff – so I get 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data for exactly the same cost I was paying before. What do O2 get out of it? 12 months out of me instead of 7. So essentially the rest of my old contract has been written off, which was something I was previously worried about handling.

My number was moved to a new microSIM over a couple of minutes, and all relevant settings were sent. So far I'm very, very satisfied with my purchase and I truly can't get over how staggering the screen is.
