is it just me or is ridiculous that a 1600 dollar macbook still has integrated graphics?

and a 2000 dollar laptop comes with 256mb of vram?

I'm probably just being a fanboy or I really haven't needed a dedicate Graphics Card, it would also cause some heat problems in such a small machine, right?
And, the Pro also has some other stuff to justify the price difference, I believe

hmm...let me think...what are you gonna use a 512mb GFX card for? Games? Unlikely, and what games they do have, 256 integrated is able to handle it:p

those integrated graphics are pretty good - it's not like the intel integrated crap (which I have, so I know!).

and as far as the 256 VRAM goes... what exactly do you need more for? It's not gonna make a BIT of difference unless you're driving huge monitors.

would a high end MB run CS4 design standard, sketch up and some games like sims 2 and AofE III?
Thanks

Absolutely.

My last macbook was the lowest spec original one: 1.86 Core Due, 512MB. It ran all of those apps... Sims 2 was a little dodgy tho.

But my new one - high end MB - runs all the above perfectly

Would it be so hard for you to snap into reality?

And what reality is that?

The one where people whine non stop about things they dont have to purchase?

And has the OP even tried the new MB (which then I guess his comments would hold merit) or is he just put off by the term integrated graphics?

^ I think this guy OP came from the world of viruses and bloatware. Now he's too amazed by the world of Macs. Seriously, what are you going to do that requires more than 256mb VRAM? Are you going to use the Mac or mod it like crazy like on a PC and show off that you have 512mb VRAM. The nVidia chipset is much much better than the Intel one. I have one so I would know. I also went to the Apple Store and checked out the new ones.

I have a blackbook (see sig), and Sims 2 runs perfectly fine on it, I'm concerned about when the Sims 3 comes out though...

Guess what. This is a free country. If you think $2000 for a laptop "only" 256mb of VRAM is a bad deal, nobody is forcing you to buy one. That's the beauty of competitive markets: if you think it's a poor deal, you can spend your money elsewhere.
