... (and my chance to rant).

Forgive me if this has already been posted; this is more of an opportunity for me to rant :p

If you're going to buy a refurbished Mac, do a quick reinstall from scratch of the OS. I got my 24" iMac on Friday (which is absolutely gorgeous, by the way), and while it did start up with the usual setup routine, I noticed something small that kind of bothered me... when I went to "hide" Safari, the icon went transparent, which (I thought... someone correct me if I'm wrong) is something you have to tweak in order to have happen.

I didn't really think anything of it at first, but then, as I was done installing applications and loading my music, etc, etc, applications were crashing left and right giving me the "The application <app name> quit unexpectedly" message constantly. It would happen before the application would even open up, or it would open for about 5 seconds and then crash... even System Preferences, which has never happened to me before. Thankfully, Time Machine didn't crash, and I was able to backup everything so that I could reinstall Leopard and then reinstall all my Apps, music, documents, etc.

Mind you, I'm still completely psyched about the iMac and while I hope that I'm an isolated incident, it wouldn't hurt to do a clean install of Leopard if you're buying a new Mac... just in case :p
