Apple makes most of their sales on their notebooks? Would Apple license their OS to only one company; and that company would take over the desktops?

No. Even if they do make most of their money on laptops (I have no idea if that is true or not) they still do make money on their desktops and therefore it'd be silly to license it out. Plus I'm pretty sure Apple likes to control the way their devices look. Apple is an experience, not an OS, not a computer... just an experience where everything melds together.
