Just blocked Facebook in /etc/hosts

To block it. Like this:

127.0.0.1     www.facebook.com

Should have done this since a long time. It will makes me save at least 20min a day.

Pretty tempting actually! I tried switch from Facebook to Twitter not long ago, what a bad decision that was, lasted all of 2 weeks haha.
 
^ easier said than done! :p

I changed my password here to a huge and random series of characters, saved in a document on my computer and I don't let Firefox save the password. I did that so I'd have to manually log in each and every time I wanted to post, a method to stop visiting. But yeah it only worked for a few weeks :D.

My router has an option to block sites. Might have to use that method myself.
 
You re right guys, why just don't go there. Becomes when you get 300+ friends on it, it becomes kind of addictive. And 10 quick glances a day keep the focus away.

I had a great work day today btw :D

Especially since you can quite easily delete the line from your host file. Sorry, but I find it as bizarre as them who put their cigarrettes in the bin when they are trying to quit.

That was my thought as well. Easily added and easily removed. It offers no real prohibition from visiting the site.
 
Sure you can remove it. But the point is it makes me think twice before opening FB. Before it was quite spontanous, now it has to be deliberate. Changes a lot.
 
You edited your /etc/hosts to block yourself from Facebook?

And then started a thread about it?

This seems like the online equivalent of a three-year old running up to a parent in the restaurant yelling, "Momma! I did a poopie in the potty!!" :rolleyes:

I think "Momma, I didn't **** on the guy in the stall next to me" is slightly more apt.
