in a great place
Ok so the Apple Refurb Store is selling BlackBooks 2.16 160Gb 1Gb Ram for $999. A good deal, yes. My question is... This generation of macbooks came out May 2007? So how old is this computer? Why is this one still hanging around? How does the refurb store work? Are these previously owned. Cause these specs havent been out for a while, and im guessing its not SantaRosa? Is this going to have a bunch of scratches?

Thanks guys

It should look brand new. I got a 2.2 . That 2.16 will not be SR so therefore not up to 4gb ram. I watch the refurbs alot and I suspect the availability depends on what is taken from the "in" stack and processed to the "out" stack.

whats the battery life gonna be without the santarosa chipset? What im getting at is...did i get a good deal?
Or should i fork over the 300 bucks and get the better refurb?

Actually, it's not really a good deal.

It's not preowned, it's not going to have scratches.

Cancel your order if you still can and buy a new one for just a bit more. For $200 more you could have lied and said you were a student, they don't check and gotten a 2.4ghz, 2GB, 160GB, super drive white model. The current models also have a faster video interface (x3100 vs GMA950).

Maybe just stick with the good deal. You can put that 300 towards a new designed MB later. I had a 2.16 before I got this 2.2. The battery was great. I think the bottom got a bit hotter on my lap with the 2.16. I only sold the 2.16 because my friend kept asking for it and I caved.

ok ok....lets not go there. Thats not helping me. I could get the educational discount if i wanted. Still in grad school.

But i really like the black, and I dont want to spend the additional money.

Anyone think this is a good idea?

how did you get a 2.2 Blackbook for 1049????

I've had it for about 5 or 6 weeks. I watched the site twice daily. I saw one about a week apart and slept on them to my loss. The next one took 2 weeks to appear. I studied it for about 5 minutes and pulled the trigger. I think I saw another about 3 or 4 weeks ago but not since. I think they'll show up again.

Because lying is a good thing

The X3100 is a joke. On paper its better than the GMA 950 but real world is a completely different story.

I'll take my 2.16GHz MacBook over any of the models with an X3100 in it any day.

There won't be much of a difference between the two integrated Intel graphic solutions.

Once Larabee becomes more than an idea we finally see some good integrated graphics.
