I just bought a new Ghuffle at the Apple store and I have a problem. In all of the pictures of boxed Shuffles on apple.com, the text on the box is gray. However, mine is in green. Are these from before the colored Shuffles came out? I'd rather have the newer one even if it it just a box change. What I'm asking is, did the box change at all since the new colored Shuffles came out? Thank you.

You're worried about the color of the text on the box?

Is this one of the new clippy shuffles, or the old "stick of gum" shuffle? If its a new one, I wouldn't worry about it.

Yours is old :p If it came with old headphones it's old but its true, the new ones did bring about a new colour change for text on the box. Sorry man. Thatt kinda sucks, maybe you can return it?

Sorry bud, but you don't know what you're talking about. The color is significant with teh new shuffle's. It signifies whether they have the newer headphones, for the silver shuffle. Colored ones all have new headphones.

I didn't open it yet, so I don't know what headphones I have. So is this older because of the green text? And for any of those people wondering why the text color matters, I'm just one of those kids who wants the newest and best.

The arrow/text on the first, silver-only shuffles was green. The arrow/text on the new ones is grey and the new ones come with the newly redesigned headphones.

Other than that they're identical so if you don't mind the old headphones then you've got nothing to worry about. If you wanted to take it back you could just say you wanted a coloured one and they'd likely swap it.

They started with the 5.5G iPod, but were not on the 2G shuffles until colours were introduced...

I bought my girlfriend a pink shuffle on Monday and the guys in the hi-fi store didn't know the headphones had been redesigned at all, even though the new ones were available to buy separate and right next to a batch of old style ones on Nano lanyards. This was a "specialist" shop.

Saying that, in the big scheme of things new iPod headphones aren't really all that significant. :)

Say I return this Shuffle to the store (Unopened with receipt). Would it be safe to buy one off of apple.com?

Toss the buds

I bought two Shuffles, a silver and a blue one. The blue one has the grey print and new style buds and the silver one has green text and old style buds. My daughter has the blue one and loves the new ear buds. I never liked the ear buds that came with my trusty 3G iPod, and I have the in-the-ear buds from Apple, so I don't care about the new ones. If you really care about the standard ear buds and you have not opened your Shuffle, by all means take it back. Better yet, buy some decent ear buds.
