With the prices macbook owners quote me that they got from apple, I question whether buying it from Apple is a scam.

much less buying it off ebay.

I would say this is legit! GO for it!

Almost 6000 feedback and top seller.

If you drop your machine and the screen cracks, you will be treated in just as vile a manner as any other customer without applecare. The same goes for numerous other possible repairs.

Think twice.

Check the feedback carefully. It certainly is possible to get it cheaply from Ebay, but caveat emptor.

That is assuming it is not legit. I have been lucky, and I do realize today it is luck, in that I do have valid apple care from eBay.

if you do a forum search for that seller's name... he has posted here defending his honor. That being said, I do believe he also sells a boxed version of AppleCare for a bit more but substantially less then Apple (or so he writes in one of his posts).

Regardless of where you buy... always get the box with the AppleCare card inside which has written upon it the magic code. Should there be any dispute down the road... the bearer of this coveted AppleCare box containing said magic code shall always persevere.
