For best clarity and sound, what cable do I need to buy to play with my macbook pro?

For my speakers, same as yours, I used a toslink to toslink mini cable, when I had a MBP. toslink mini goes to the MBP and the bigger end, plain toslink goes into the back of the "controller". Thats a digital optical cable so its high quality.

thanks, do you think you could find a cable that would work well for me? i've looked on google but don't really know what my best option is. thanks for your help.

OK, for the Z5500 itis a "normal" Toslink connection (like on any audio equipment). What about on the back of the Mac Pro (early 2008)? Is that the same connection, or another version of the Toslink type?
