Hi -

Just purchased our first Mac last night. It was purchased new about 1 year ago and is the white Macbook. I mainly use the 'dark' side, but had a huge interest in learning more about the Mac and joining the craze.

I think we got a pretty good price considering the refurbs I've seen on Apple.com. Only paid 600 and has Leopard and Microsoft Office. It's in flawless condition.

Model Name: MacBook
Model Identifier: MacBook2,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.16 GHz
Memory: 2 GB

I'll be visiting this place quite often. Thanks.

Congrats - enjoy your new Mac!

Where did you get it, eBay?? That was an amazing deal for 600!!!

In the F/S section at Notebookreview.com. The person is very well respected over there. Even all in the thread said it was a great deal.

You definitely got a great deal. I had the same MB, but bought it in August '07 and recently upgraded to the BlackBook 2.4 Penryn, and the MBA. I was looking to sell my MB 2.16 for about $900, so I'm pretty impressed that you were able to buy for only $600. What size hard drive did you get? 120GB or 160GB? Welcome to the MB Family. :p:cool:

The funny thing was i was hanging out at notebookreview.com expecting to find a laptop pc. We wanted a mac, but even used were quite expensive.

I know it isn't a speed demon (not sure of upgrade possibilities), but it least gives me a good taste of the mac.

Have a good weekend.

Wow, just wow, I thought macs have good resale value. I purchased the 2.16 macbook white (same one as yours) for 1350 six months ago. Six months later and and it's less than half off, thats insane. Great deal for you though
That is a fast computer, you can throw anything at it and it would run flawlessly. Everything except games. Try this, 8 movies in quicktime, and it will run them all at once, full frames. That macbook can do more than just simple word documents :p

It's amazing how lackluster and boring Windows now feels for only messing around a little while this thing. I'm definately hooked.

Already ordered an incase black rubberized casing for it to help protect it.

The guy I bought it from had lost the remote. Is it worth trying to find a cheap one? Not real sure if I'd use it, but it would be nice to have a complete set.

Thanks.

Congrats and welcome! Just remember to come back if you have any issues, a new OS can be a trial. It can also be a great joy. I love my MB to bits. Hope you feel the same way.

I just got my first mac too! Bought it on Thursday, and I love it! Didn't get quite as good a deal as you, but I managed to use my eductation discount. So I saved a fair bit on the laptop (£601), and got Apple Care for only £47. Bargain.

I got myself the basic macbook, so 2.1GHz Penryn, with 120GB hard drive, 1GB RAM. i think i'm going to up that to 4GB when I get paid again. Would that be worth it? Just to make it run even quicker?

Enjoy. I am.

I'm in serious need of help....

I can't stop messing with the Macbook...LOL.

Mine came with the remote when I purchased it in Jan08. I use my Mac obsessively and I can count on one hand how many times I've used that remote. I don't think I'd miss it if i lost it. It works fine but pretty useless for me.

Congratulations!!! That is a great deal. $600 for that machine is incredible. I paid more than twice that for my BlackBook and it is only a 2.0 GHz.
