First of all, I feel like an idiot for not switching to Mac earlier.

The new MacBook Pro is phenomenal, and I could have not asked for more. Today i picked up the baseline 13" one because i'm starting another school year in university next month so i thought i'd go in fresh.

Btw, I don't see why people are complaining about the battery life, I'm getting 10:30hrs to 12:11hrs while typing this up after full charge. (bluetooth off, brightness at 25%, surfing the web, no backlight) I absolutely love the new battery, kudos to you Apple!
If anyone is hesitating about buying one, I say drop that and go for it, you won' regret the purchase.

Does anyone know of a plug in which removes Flash advertisements? And any nice and useful widgets i should download?

Nice! And how did you get Microsoft Office 2011 when it hasn't been released yet? :p

I need to get 2011 before school starts. Glad you like the MBP though! I don't really use widgets but for apps:

littlesnitch
dropbox
gfxcardstatus
quiksilver
vuze
vlc
skype
ventrilo
steam
photoshop cs5

those are the ones off the top of my head

out of curiosity, what are these?

i found that one a little too expensive for my taste, even with student/teacher discount it's €400 ... guess i will be going with iPhoto, the Gimp and adobe elements.

Congrats

Thanks guys!

Yes, they are MindNode for mind mapping, and NoteBook for taking quick notes in class.

the Beta for Office 2011 is amazing, Microsoft did a great job and I can't wait to purchase it when the final version comes out!

Hey guys I was just wondering what app is the best for keeping track of your system apart from MacKeeper?

Thanks TopHatPlus, that list helped a lot.

So i just calibrated my battery, and it ended up decreasing my battery life? This is crazy. I used to get 9hours+ easy while only web surfing at low brightness, and even if i had VMWare Fusion on I got 5hours. But now it seems everything went down by 2hours.
Is this normal?

If i re-calibrate it will I get my old battery life back? My Battery health is still 100%

Did you time it before to see if you were actually getting that long?

The battery life estimates you get before calibration are typically inaccurate and the post-calibration estimate you get is much more accurate. So it's possible the battery life estimates you are getting now are closer to what you can expect.

Thanks guys! hmmm, i'm gonna calibrate it once again, because i'm only surfing the web without flash and i only have 7hours.
This time i will also time my battery life.

Btw, when i see other people's wallpapers they are all very smooth. Then when i download them and apply them as my wallpaper.. For some reason the plain wallpapers that i have look grainy on my MacBook Pro's display, and the ones with gradients are chopped, as in they are not smooth and look like rings instead of a smooth gradient.
How can i fix this?

do you mean i have to convert my current ones to 1280x800? And download only 1280x800 wallpapers?

Is there a way to get that without buying the software?

does anyone have a working bashflash program? I just got a mac book as well 2 days ago trying to get this program to work. Supposely its place on the menubar on top where the time and volume are located but i don't see anything.

hey Weshzu, try searching up on Spoitlight, "Bash Flash" and then click on it, you should see a ring and an F inside it on your menu bar. Right click it and select "Open at LogIn" if you want.
