Hey, I just bought a cellular M4 iPad Pro for $800 - around 50 battery cycles, perfect condition.

Do you think it was a bad move with the M5 coming out soon?

To be fair, if Apple is indeed scheduled to release products this week, your within the return window [if the M5 iPP does indeed have an extra punch].

iPad Pro 13 inch (M4): Flawless, WiFi + Cellular, 512GB

Your device is valued at

$750.00

As a trade in on line checking the value of my iPad Pro (not on Apple). 13” iPad Pro M4 2025, 512g, cellular. I think you got a good deal for today. When the new product is released this will natural go down, how much I don’t know.

It depends on what you value and take priority with. The M5 is supposed to have 12gb of ram, thats a 50% increase from the current M4. If you are planning to keep the iPad for a long time, this will be a major factor to consider. The price was great for a 13 inch version but not so good for the 11 inch version.

Would you spend the extra money to purchase a new M5 at full price? Normally when I buy used, it is because it’s a good value. So even if there is a new one coming out, I would have bought a used one anyway.

Usually, retailers clear the last gen stuff at a steep discount when the new gen arrives.

if you're set on a cellular model than yeah, I'd probably just keep this one. but if you were going for the wifi, id return and go with a new m5. Im not a cellular iPad user, I just use my hotspot if wifi isn't available. something to consider

It’s a good deal for the cellular model I think. The M5 is unlikely to be a major improvement for general use. It would likely still be a good deal after the M5 release.

If it does what you need then it’s fine.
There will always be a new version etc, be happy and enjoy it.😀👍

Depends on what you use it for. The M5 will be 36% better for GPU metal tasks according to leaks. Plus the m5 has a better GPU architecture for future AI features.

No. If there's new models coming they'll be coming with a price hike. Everything comes with a price hike these days. What you have will last you many years.

Is it just me that gets annoyed that every title in this forum gets created using ChatGPT so as it might get extra clicks?

I think it’s just you. The op has asked a genuine question on this forum and is after opinions from members here.

OP if your need is for an M4 iPad now and it is at a price you were comfortable paying then keep the m4.

If you feel like your going to end up wanting the latest and greatest then return the m4 but be aware the new model will cost considerably more.

Absolutely fantastic deal, definitely wouldn’t return it.
While I’m sure the M5 will be great The fact is that it probably won’t go on discount for several months, and the cellular 11 inch iPad Pro *already* starts at $1200+tax.
And (yes I’m going to go there) we are talking about an iPad.
Yes, iPadOS is getting better and the app ecosystem is improving, but there is still barely anything out there for iPadOS that the current M4, or the M3, or even the M2 and M1 can’t just zip through like butter. Even with extra RAM, iPadOS still very much limits ram usage pretty heavily.
Only you know what’s important to yourself, but in my personal opinion, I don’t think an extra 4 GB of RAM and your typical year over year spec boost is worth an extra $400+tax.
Also even with the M4, we’re still talking about a device that will be well supported into the 2030s.
