Just Bought SSD Now What?

Hey Guys,

I have a Mid 09 17" MBP. 2.8GHZ and 8 Gig of Ram and the Applecare just expired.

I just bought a 256 Samsung 830 to replace my 500 Gig 7200 RPM from Apple.

What other parts do I need to get this installed? / Anything I should know about?

You just need a screwdriver. It's a very simple and straightforward swap.

I bought a small screw driver and small torx driver at HomeDepot to use when working on my Mac. They were about $6 each.

In addition to the couple of screw drivers for replacing the drive itself, you could get an external HDD enclosure for your old drive. You can plug into your USB and use the old drive to keep extra files, or better still to backup your system.

You will need en external enclosure anyway if you are going to clone your system to the SSD. I used this method when I replaced by HDD with a SSD and it was really easy. Simsaladimbamba's post above describes it well.
