Just curious: What's the expected lifespan of an Airport Extreme?

My base station isn't registering an internet signel from my cable router, and I've confirmed that both ethernet jacks on the router are good as is the ethernet cable itself, so it looks like it's time to replace my 9-year-old Airport Extreme.

I figure 9 years is a respectful lifespan for a tech device but I have nothing to base that on ... so I'm curious, what's the average or expected lifespan of base stations?

Most of us replace stuff long before they die due to advancements in wireless technology, so I don't know if there is many who can give you a solid answer....

Mine's also nine years old and still works fine.
