I had no idea how many machines I currently had on hand, out of an addiction to these older Macs I had been buying stuff from eBay for sometime, fixing up older PowerBooks with working batteries, OS, and power supplies, and stuffing old Macs up on shelves in my closet. Now that I've done the tally, this is what I've got. Soon I will be listing a few of these on eBay (only older ones) but first let me know if you want any of these "antique" Macs for your collection. I am pretty knowledgeable about what they normally sell for on eBay and I know what I bought them for. Note: Mac Pro, >2002 Macs and MacBook/MacBook Pro off limits, not selling these.

My current collection of Mac computers:

"older" Desktops :

  • Macintosh LC II (this was my first computer)
(complete with 12” RGB monitor and keyboard/mouse)
  • Macintosh Color Classic (complete, functional)
  • Power Macintosh G3/233 (64MB RAM) functional OS 9.2.2
  • Power Macintosh 6500/250 32MB RAM OS 8.5
  • iMac 333MHz Blueberry 160MB RAM, OS 9.2.2 and Tiger 10.4

All these antique PowerBooks, in fully functioning order:

  • PowerBook 100
  • PowerBook 145b
  • PowerBook 160
  • PowerBook 165
  • PowerBook 170 (unit #1)
  • PowerBook 170 (unit #2)
  • PowerBook 180 (unit #1)
  • PowerBook 180 (unit #2)
  • PowerBook Duo 280c
  • PowerBook 1400c/117
  • PowerBook G3 Pismo 550MHz, 192MB RAM

+ Newton MP 2000 w/167MHz MP2k1 upgrade, fully functional

----------------------------------------------
(current Macs I'm using everyday) :

  • MacBook White 1.83GHz 2GB RAM
  • MacBook Pro 2.4GHz Santa Rosa, 4GB RAM
  • iMac alum. 20” 2.0GHz, 320GB HD 2GB RAM
  • Mac Pro tower, 3.0GHz quadcore Xeon, 16GB RAM 2x500GB HD array, 250GB extra
------------------

So, without the Newton, it brings my grand total of Macs I currently own to:

20 (TWENTY)

p.s. I’m currently in the process of trying to downsize my Mac inventory, so let me know if there are any units you might be interested in having. Perhaps we can negotiate a deal before I list them on eBay. Again, I'm not getting rid of any of my newer Macs, just the ancient ones ;-)

--Thanks

I have a PowerBook 230c, and I don't think I'll ever sell it. That thing is SWEET. Plus, I like it. A guy I work with was going to throw it away, but I convinced him to give it to me instead. :)

I wonder how much it's worth...

Let me narrow down to make this clearer...these are the only items in the list above that I am "likely" interested in selling right away:

  • Color Classic
  • PowerMac G3/233
  • PowerMac 6500/250
  • Blueberry iMac 333MHz
  • PowerBook 145b
  • PowerBook 160
  • PowerBook 165
  • PowerBook 170 (one of them)
  • PowerBook 180 (one of them)
  • PowerBook 1400c/117 (upgraded w.new 12x CD-ROM)
  • PowerBook Duo 280c

*all units boot to Mac OS and function 100%*

  • Newton MessagePad 2000
(MP2K1 upgraded to 167MHz)
comes with case, 4 cards, modem, keyboard, full package

and, *maybe* the Pismo 550MHz (this puppy is *mint* pristine)

--------------------
So,
I'm interested in keeping:

  • PowerBook 100 (it was hard to find one in this condition)
  • PowerBook 170 (unit #2) - put alot of work into this unit
  • PowerBook 180 (unit #2) - may sell at later date
  • Macintosh LC II (my one and only, first computer I owned)

Trying to reduce my Mac collection from 20 to about 8 or 9 ideally. Too many good vintage machines and I have no time to use them, plus I got bills to pay and my bedroom is becoming a Mac museum, or a mausoleum. LOL

How much would you ask for the Newton? I've got a MP 100, but would be interested in a 2k or 2k1 if I found a good one. Looks like you've got a pretty good collection of Powerbooks too. The only pre-G3 notebook I had was a 145b. I liked it, but it had a bad hard drive. Currently my Mac count is at 25 not including family computers, and I'll probably be downsizing soon too. Unfortunately, most of mine will probably end up as free on Craigslist or at the recyclers.

Well, this one is pretty much in mint condition. There is a very similar MP2000 upgraded to a 2100 on eBay, with case, keyboard, cards, and a good package. That is pretty much exactly what I got. Only difference is they mention their unit there's a problem with a hinge on the cover and the door won't stay on, as well as some chipped plastic, their unit is sold as-is and the current bid is $110.50 with 11 bids.

My unit is practically mint condition, perfect.

This is that auction for the similar MP2K/MP2K1 hybrid on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Apple-Newton-Me...39:1|66:2|65:12|240:1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

I am really hoping for $150 for my Newton. I really have no use for it, it's just a toy to toy around with, and wireless internet is much better on an iPhone anyways. Let me know if you may be interested. Thanks.

ah grasshopper, you only have a real collection when you can only count what you do not have. The only thing holding me back now are the colors of the imacs/ibooks, and the confusing times of the quadra/performa/centris years.

How much are you looking for with the Color Classic?

$150 + shipping (it's heavy) --

comes with case, Presto 33mHz 040 card (needs correct drivers)
System 7.5 installed. Will include keyboard/mouse.
Fully functional, cosmetically A++

here is a pic of the unit:

Keeping Track

I'll have to remember that expresssion. It's definitely easier to keep track of what I don't have than what I do.

Mactarcus,

Over 150 macs? Wow. Would that include stacks of LCIIs? Or is your collection more varied. I try not to keep more than 2 of one thing. I do have 4 350mhz (no firewire/slot loading) imacs. And was issued a stack of LCII's. The LCIIs I can't even give away.

That is just a beauty. I have always wanted a clear Mac Portable or a PowerBook 170 or a clear Duo. Something about the clear plastics makes them one of a kind and kickass. You saw that "disfunctional" non-working M5120 portable that recently sold for near $2000 - just for the case plastics. wow.

I do have a few duplicates, but I've strived to collect one of each major model. Right now, I have every one from the original Mac though the G5 Tower, Intel mini, MacBook Pro and Air with one or two minor exceptions.

I just got rid of some old ones. Kept a Graphite iMac that I use mostly for iTunes while plugged into a home stereo, and 520c and 170 Power Books because they really don't take up much room.

Only have 2 Macs left for daily use, but planning on a new purchase after the fallout from upcoming Apple events, maybe including Macworld.

What about the colors of the iMacs and iBooks? I almost have all of them now. I have yet to come to grips of the on how to deal with the Quadra/Centris/Performa situation.

But the real question is: What are these exceptions and how can I help you?

I had a couple of vintage Macs some years ago, but I only keep my fully loaded SE/30 w. CD-rom and midi interface...

I have to replace the capacitors though... I also have a leftover SE/30 case that I will mod into a hackintosh once I have a weekend to spare...

you just gotta love those compact macs, so cute... ;)
