163.00 without the new firmware, that should cost you 10.00

Was that the price or did you have a coupon? Which store did you visit? Thanks!

That was the price on floor. No coupon or anything! I visited the Best Buy in Midtown Atlanta. I bought the Touch and the Griffin Wavecase. Total was 196:)

Yes, this is the price at all Best Buys. They did the same thing last year after Apple released the new lineup of ipods. They drastically reduce the price to clear them off the floors. I went to my local Best Buy this morning and it was the same situation... although every store but one in the entire state was sold out of 'em.

If you can find one, get it. But you'll need a fair dose of luck to find an "old" touch for that price since almost every Best Buy in the nation is just about sold out of them

Is there even a difference between the new 8 gb and the last one?? Only the 32/64 got faster...

Nobody knows for sure, yet, but it appears that the 8GB touch is identical to the ones that have been on shelves for the last 12 months now. Only the 32/64GB models appear to have received slight hardware upgrade.

Final answer: If you can find an "old" one at best buy for ~$160, get it!

The only kicker is that you'll have to pay $4.95 for the 3.0 firmware, but 160 for a touch is a screaming deal by Apple's standards

Not to rain on everyone's parade, but how is this a good deal? You can get a refurb from apple for $149. I got a brand new one on ebay for $140 and free shipping yesterday. That will tide me over until apple puts out a 64 GB touch with some actual new features.

You guys must be able to find better deals than me. All Ive seen for $140-$150 are refurb 1st gens or used 2nd gen. And of course a good bit more for 16gb. It your happy with an ipod someone broke thats cool. i just think its worth $10-20 for a new one. Not to mention the OP and myself will be using these as gifts and IMO a refurb as a gift is a bit tacky.

This is an even better deal if you use the coupon here. I used it today and got 12% off the iPod for a total of only $144.31! You just need to be a Reward Zone member (which is free).
