Just got a Macbook Pro! Have some questions

I just got my first Mac a few days ago and I was wondering about a few things.

1) How can I record my desktop? I see videos on youtube where the recording even follows the mouse pointer and zooms in.

2) Take photos of the desktop and of particular items?

3) I want to make three finger tap open a new background tab in Google Chrome. How is this done?
