What's the best browser? Is Safari 4 the way to go or should I get firefox?

Where can I find the top apps for mac users (I am a PC turned mac user so just curious)

Do I get a class at the apple store free for purchasing a mac or something?

Safari 4 is probably the fastest web browser on Mac OS X, but Firefox is good too.

Macupdate.com and these forums are a good place to find applications for Mac OS X.

To get the workshops at the Apple Store, I believe you have to sign up for One to One.

It's a personal taste more than anything. Try both and decide after you've tried them.

Don't use Safari just because you 'converted' to Mac, while at the same time don't discount it just because you're used to Firefox.

Browser choice is in the eye of the beholder. They're free so might as well give them a try to see what you like. There's a few threads on things new switchers want to know. Be sure to use MRoogle when you want to find something as it has likely been discussed a time or too already here.

I use firefox for things like gestures, autofill and go to google for new tabs.

Does safari have anything like these add ins?

Imho FF is far better, more secure and faster. Also it has lots of nice features, like tab recovery after a crash and cool skins like night mode.
