Just got a new iPhone 4 (4.2.1-8C148)

Once I got home I tried jailbreaking it, but Cydia's icon is white and won't work at all. I read that I need SHSH xx, well it's brand new, so it's impossible for my phone to have one. I just want to know if there's a way to jailbreak it, doesn't matter if tethered or un-tethered jailbreak, but it would be nice if it's un-tethered.

You're already jsilbroken tethered. Rerun redsnow and click boot tethered only and you should be set.

Like said above after jailbreaking and seeing the white Cydia you then need to run redsn0w in tethered mode.

You have to do this every time the iPhone reboots, battery dies, or you turn it off/on.
