I can't believe it. I had just about given up searching for a store in California that still had the 2008 Octos when by sheer luck I called the Los Gatos store and they told me they had one left. "YES I'M INTERESTED," I told them. They shipped it to Los Angeles and the business rep (really friendly dude) here emailed me saying they had it in today. Hopped in my car and sped to the Galleria store. Came home a happy man.

The $1899 price was just simply ridiculous. I couldn't believe my good fortune. Now I have to sell my white 24-inch iMac (which is dear to my heart) and pick up an ATI 4870 and a new monitor (a cheap one until I can afford the 24 LED later this year). Also need to get the WiFi card.

Gonna go install Leopard right now on this beast!

congrats !

I ordered last week a 8 Core Mac Pro 2.8 GhZ over the WWW and I got scammed and lost CHF 2400 (2000 dollars)... What a bastard took my money, I guess I need to work again for the money.

good luck with your mac pro.

for real? :eek::eek:

Wait. So is the Mac Pro model you got from before March 3, 2009?
If it is then the 24 inch LED display you were planning on eventually getting won't be compatible with it.

I am not making fun. Yes, this dude sent me manipulated Chronopost (like TNT) datas and I payed the money. I realized it all to late... Never did something like this before over the internet and I am usually very careful with such things... I worked three weeks 8 hours a day for this money, I am usually a student. Now I learned something for my life...

Be careful .

IT CAN'T POSSIBLY NOT HAVE LEOPARD ON IT.

I weep for that machine that its owner can't even tell what software it is running.

He's getting a 4870.

Maybe he hadn't turned that on before he said that.
If you read the thread he mentions that he realizes it has Leopard on it.

sorry to hear

[James Stewart] Now, now, hold on here... In, in my defense, your honor, it's six forty-three here... That's awful early.[/James Stewart] :D;)

At any rate, it's an aught eight model. It couldn't have been running anything less.

Additionally, he may just have wanted to do a clean install. Some people prefer to re-install the operating system even on a brand new machine.

He didn't sound like he thought it came with Tiger or any other OS, it sounded more like he forgot the OS came pre-installed. Maybe this is only his 2nd Mac. I bet a lot of new Mac owners go home and expect to have to install the OS.

Every system I've seen since at least 1990 from a vendor, has had an OS pre-installed. ;) :p

DIY and additional OS's are obvious exceptions of course. :D

But there are reasons for making a fresh (custom) installation. I've done it on occasions to strip it down. I usually prefer to eliminate crap I'll never use. Eats clock cycles, and they're too precious to waste. :p

Bingo. This is in fact only my 2nd Mac and I forgot that OSX came pre-installed.
