Just got a new Macbook Pro, the old 2.4GHz version for $1734.00 off of amazon after 150.00 rebate. Figure the old 15" already has an LED screen, processor is virtually the same, same video card, so only thing I'm really losing is a bit of hard drive space and the multi-touch trackpad. They also give you free shipping and you don't have to pay tax, so all in all, seems like a pretty decent deal. Just figured I would throw it out there for anybody else who might be interested.

The amount of video RAM in the MacBook Pro doubled yesterday so you didn't quite get the same video card.

It's the same card, 8600M GT. There will be very little if any performance increase in 512mb vs 256mb unless the 512mb version uses GDDR3 which I don't think is out yet for the 8600M GT.

Those of us who are gamers would beg to differ! Crank that slider for texture detail up to the max with 512mb!

Well I'm assuming he's comparing his "old" 2.4 with the new 2.4, which only has 256mb vram.

Edit: Guess not, it seems he's comparing the old 2.4 with the 2.5.

I was for the most part going over the old 2.4 vs. the new 2.4 but figured i would chime in on the video as well.
