hey guys,

My dad just got me a PS3 for Christmas!! We're celebrating christmas early because I'm going to my mom's family for christmas tomorrow. Now, I haven't opened the games yet but does anyone have any good suggestions? Also, how do I put music and vids on there? Is there any integration between my mbp and the ps3 possible? I've never been too big of a gamer so I really have no idea on all of that stuff so any help would be good.

Thanks a lot and merry christmas!

Have you read the instruction manual yet? It's always a good place to start.

Pretty much all the PS3 games are ace. :)

Oh fair enough. In the instruction manual; you should find all the info about loading music etc onto it.

I have a sneaking suspicion that you're going to enjoy your present...:D

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/3A110a Safari/419.3)

Yes definitely start with cod4 and the like, if you are into RPGs give Oblivion a try, its only 29.99 and its an amazing game.

is there any third party mac integration programs I should look into?

I think I heard somewhere that the makers of Connect360 are making a ConnectPS3. Well, I hope I get a PS3 for Christmas too!! That's all I really want. I have been waiting to buy an HD console and for now I just have a Wii(which was still a good choice). Haven't played them but I hope to get Uncharted and Warhawk. Maybe Ratchet and Clank too (since I've played all the other ones).

Edit: Here's the proof.

Merry Christmas! I hope you enjoy your PS3. On to the game recommendations...

1. Oblivion (try to get the Game of the Year Edition, it includes the Shivering Isles expansion pack)

2. Unreal Tournament 3

3. Whatever sports games you like (Madden, NCAA, NBA)

If you start to run out of hard drive space, remember, Sony has made it very easy to upgrade the drive yourself. I just ordered a 120GB drive for my PS3 (replacing my current 20GB drive).

hey guys, is there anyway to listen to your own music while your playing a game?

Sure is. All you need is an iPod, stereo, or some other music-playing device. Turn that on and you can listen to music while playing your PS3. :)

As for playing it on the PS3 itself, no, the PS3 does not support custom soundtracks during games.

I don't get why people want their own music in games. Surely most decent games have a good enough soundtrack? I would hate to have anything else in Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid, Zelda...etc.

The only games that need custom soundtracks are racing games IMHO.

I like my own music in GTA games. Once the radio stations get boring I like to put on my music.
Except Vice City. That IS my iTunes library!

ok so I ended up getting motorstorm (it's alright), madden 08, CoD4, and rockband, which is so much fun!

Looking to get assassins creed with some of my christmas money, thanks for all of your help guys.

Also, let me know if there are any other games like assassins creed cause that game's amazing.

PS: Really wish I had an HD tv!

It depends. Sometimes in-game soundtracks are just really bad, or you want to be strange and do something like play Frank Sinatra with Gears of War, or whatnot.
