I still have an Apple Superdrive. It does dual purpose duty as a pedestal (w/ better underside airflow) for my Studio M1 Max.

I managed to snag a SuperDrive just before it was discontinued. What is so interesting is it was recognized as a Yamaha by my Mini PC.

The drive is sold out now, but it is interesting to note in the statistics that sales exploded the day I posted this thread. I toyed with the idea of getting one, but the Apple SuperDrive is the last optical drive I intend to buy.

I still have one too sitting atop my Mac Studio. I don't use it all that much these days, but I still periodically (maybe like 6-8 times per year) get medical images on optical disc for me to review. I just leave it plugged in. Doesn't really take up any space and doesn't really use any power unless it's in use, so I just leave it in place.
