Apple sent me an email just now saying an intruder tried to hack their servers. They are completely overhauling their servers/software/etc.

This is why it has been down.

All personal info is encrypted and safe, but some names, emails addresses, and mailing addresses might have been accessed.

Just got that as well. Hopefully no significant breaches of info.

Apple takes security pretty seriously, (I didn't say they were invulnerable)....you can bet they will take the steps necessary to lock their servers up tighter than Fort Knox.

I would also expect future betas to enforce the UUID check even on an OTA update.

Apple will be pissed off and rightly so.
