My parents just got me an iPhone for Christmas. Its still in the box because they wont let me activate it until the 24. I heard about the 3G coming out. If it is only 3G then I dont mind keeping mine. Will it have any other new things besides 3G?

Yeah, it will feature much shorter battery life. The only thing I hate about the current iPhone is that the battery blows very quickly doing a lot of web browsing (with WIFI turned off). If I am accessing mail and webpages throughout the day, the battery is about blown by 4pm. I shudder to think what the 3G iphone battery will be like.

It's not been announced, so the simple answer is "no-one knows". However, if you take into account the fact that most of the iPhone is software driven and based on OSX, then there's a pretty good chance that most of the new features that find their way into iPhone 2 will also work with current iPhones.
The only things that will be unique on iPhone 2 will be hardware based and I would guess at the following as possibles:

3G (a given)
Larger capacity (almost certain)
Forward facing camera (maybe)

Er, that's about it ;)
