Hey guys, I was fortunate enough to snag a deal on ebay today(at least I think it's a deal). For 890 incl shipping, I got a 2009 Mac pro 4.1 flashed to 5.1. It has:
Dual xeon x5690's
32gb 1333mhz ECC ram
128 gb PCI mSATA ssd
750gb hdd
AMD Gigabyte R9 280X - 3GB Windforce OC
OSX WIFI AC Wifi and Bluetooth 4.0 card and antenna
USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 (USB – C) PCI card
BluRay Reader/Writer Disc Drive
I was happy to get this because it had most of the upgrades I wanted to do myself already installed. Only thing I can think of to boost performance is a better GPU and maybe dual pci ssd's in RAID config. Do you guys have any recommendations for gpus~$300 and other general performance enhancement? Honestly, if I could play fortnite (in windows or osx) on high settings with 60fps i'll be happy. I know it's an old computer, I just wanted a mac mainly for coding python and running tensorflow and stuff. For macs in my price range, this by far has the most horsepower/dollar. Also, did I get a good deal? Everything else on ebay similar to this seemed to be at least 300 more, they had a 50$ off mobile coupon today so I just jumped on the offer.
