After almost a year and a half I finally PULLED THE TRIGGER! I am typing on my 2.5 GHz Classic MBP. It's really really nice. What do I do now? Is there anything you guys recommend downloading? I got this machine for $1622 with apple care and a free printer. Thats including tax :)

Congrats. I think you should start off with a heavy dose of porn. Enjoy the new machine, classic timeless looks IMO and a great machine.

It automatically illuminates in low-light conditions, if you've checked that option in System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard

Tips for your first MBP

First, there is always a way to do anything! Enjoy exploring and searching the net for tips.
Second, do NOT rush out and download 3rd party utilities! Learn to do it the Mac way clean and pure! Also, updates are trouble-free if you don't have a lot of hacks or utilities installed.

I've had my first MBP for 19 months and I still enjoy the thrill of discovering new ways to do things that are already built into OSX.

Enjoy the purity of a well designed OS!
:)

Congrats! You'll get used to the system soon enough. Just fiddle around with the settings to the way you like it. It wouldn't hurt to install some apps, but don't go overboard.

Dude, hes been here longer than you :p

Dude, hes been here longer than you :p

If he's just now getting a Mac and asking for advice, how long he's been a member of the forum isn't an issue. Many people come here and sign in, then leave the forums alone for years. Many others learn at different rates. So how long someone has been here is irrelevant. The OP asked for help. I offered it. What's the problem with that?

i appreciate all the help guys!!! seriously!! this thing is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!
