Just got my iPhone 5 - Stupidly slow restore?

Any ideas as to why it is taking forever to restore from the cloud? I am on 5ghz wifi with a 100mbps connection?

Not sure but I read that icloud restore takes a very long time, as it has to re-download all the apps. Icloud only saves the data, not the apps themselves.

It took me a while...I think it's a wifi bug with new iPhone 5's...I had to install 6.0.1 first, then I was able to restore much faster

Ahh right, well it is all done now. Seems quite a nice phone and big improvement over my 4S.

I restore from iCloud once. Takes like 6 times longer than just plugging it into my computer.

Never going to do that again.

It's probably the iTunes Store that's making the process so slow.

Have you noticed how slow the iTunes Store has become since iOS 6?

On the iPad it is ridiculously slow.

Anyway, I reckon this is what you are experiencing.

You only have to do it the once, though (hopefully!) so shouldn't be too bad. Just leave it to do its thing while you do something else.
