After all day of fighting fedex to let me pick my package up I finally have my new mb 2.4. I love this thing!! After using nothing but pc's the past lifetime this has already become a great experence. I love how you turn it on and BAM it starts setting everything up for you and after 5 minutes your done and ready to play. Not bashing PCs here just in my personal opinion this is the best notebook for college student to get. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Great job Apple.

love seeing all these PC converts! I am only a 5month convert but I love 'em.

Im going to try to convert my mom and dad too but my moms pc crashed and she just bought a new one  so it may take a year of making my mac tell her the date and a couple jokes lol.

Just received my first ever Mac (MacBook) yesterday! No complaints here. I love the user interface and I'm sure I'll love it even more once I learn the ins and outs of it.

Whats some good stuff to add for a student? Tomorrow I'm going to dl iwork. Anything else?

congratulations. I just went to the Apple Store today to repair my white MacBook. Saw the unibody notebooks while waiting for the diagnose/repair. Those things are light, sturdy, and beautiful.

Congrats on your new baby! I've been a convert for about a year now and I'm never going back!

If you're a student (and plan to take your lappy with you everywhere), invest in a good case. There are hard-shell options made by incase and speck, but I would still use a soft slipcover with those. I prefer Office to iWork, but that is my personal preference. Other than that.... Handbrake is great for ripping DVDs and I like Transmission for torrents.

Congrats again and welcome!

Super duper
VLC
Mpeg streamclip (if you want to convert video)
Handbrak
oovoo (video conferencing, better than skype)
Open office (just like microsoft office but free)
Gimp (free photo editor)
iLife 9
Just to name a few. Congrats on the new toy.

Whoah! Did you say you're going to download iWork? You'd best be careful. Not only is it illegal to download it, there's also been a nasty Mac virus embedded in those downloads... It made Macrumors front page a little while back. I urge you to purchase it if you're going that route.

Ah, okay. Wasn't quite sure how you meant it (figured you might mean bittorrent), but felt I should warn you regardless. I hope I didn't come across as condescending in any way. Congrats on your new Mac and welcome to MacRumors.

Congratulations! They really are great computers. My white iMac from 2 years ago is still good as new.
