Just got my new MBP - calibrate battery?

Just got my MBP through the post.
Q1
Whats the deal with the batteries? I would normally just read through the instruction manuals, but I have heard there is a special way to calibrate the battery when you first receive the laptop hence I am anxious to even start up the new MBP yet. ???

Also for battery longetivity is it better if i don't keep the power in the laptop when im using it and just charge it each time it dies or should i always keep the power adaptor attached when i can?

2. To get best life, use it until it goes to sleep and then charge it to 100% and repeat, I think

One last question.

I have applecare.etc but I really don't want to have to put my personal info onto the macbook, therefore i dont want to register it if i don't have to (on the actual laptop itself). Is there anyway of getting out of registration? will this affect applecare in any way?
