Just got my replacement iPhone with 4.0.2..

And is there anyway I can upgrade it to 4.1 without updating it and going up to 4.2.1?
I need 4.1 for "testing purposes"

Try it in recovery or DFU. If it doesn't work, why not keep it at 4.0.2? Also note that 64-bit Windows seems to have issues with restoring phones. But most Macs and 32-bit Windows work pretty well. Strange, but that is what I have learned from experience.yeah I got a error when I tried to do it
It won't let u install it thru dfu either.
Maybe try a custom 4.1 ipsw created with pwnage but still not 100% sure if it will let you.

darnit! Thanks for the heads up, I may just stick with 4.0.2 if this is the case.
ok so i have a 4.0.2 and want to install (restore ) to custom 4.1 and ituen is not letting me do it ...that means there is no way to go to 4.1 (custom i.e)?
That sucks.
So itunes is not letting you restore to the custom 4.1 created with pwnage.
Did you put the iphone in JB DFU mode using pwnage tool.
If you try to install it without letting pwnage run the hack to enter it into DFU it wont let you restore to it.
i tried it ! and not just one one computer i tried it on three different pc/mac's every time had it in DFU mode still the same message , "can not update to this built" some thing like that .... so that means there is no way to go to 4.1 now ?
how come i can update from 3.1.3 to 4.1 fine but now from 4.0.2 ???
4.1 bug?
I though 4.1 OS had bug with passcode, and other minor stuff. I did not update my iphone 4 4.0.2 till 4.2.1 was out. Mostly due to the "find my phone" and new "sounds" on 4.2.1.
