I know that the battery is glued onto the device, so I was wondering if it was possible that when they replaced the battery, since they have to replace the entire logic board, if I could get a board with 16GB of RAM instead of my current 8GB and pay them the premium. Has anybody encountered or asked such a question yet?

Also, when will chrome be released in 64bits and why are there no indicator lights on the rMBP?

They don't replace the logic board. They replace the top case - which includes the palm rest area, keyboard, trackpad and battery.

I have no idea about chroma, and there wouldn't be room in the current design for the battery lights in their old form (the controller board was as thick as the previous unibody design.
