I got my new iPad at best buy today, and the sales guy asked me if I wanted to "activate" my iPad.

He told me that if I activated my iPad (and get a monthly bill) that I will have better coverage because it uses all their cell towers and that it will be better and more coverage than a pre paid plan.

He also states that there will be differences in plane prices too. He quoted $30/3 gig for activated and $20/1gig for ore paid.

Is this true? I was googling and I couldn't find anything about this

I was wondering something along these same lines-

I got mine from Apple, does this mean that I cannot add an extra 1gb for $10 when I go over?

can I take it to Verizon and have them "activate" it?

100% false. He lied to you in order for him to get a commission. If I were you I'd get that guys name and let someone know at Verizon HQ. Very unethical.

From what I understand, there is a $35 activation fee that they get commission on if they activate it for you. Tell him to F OFF.
