Just got new HD....how do I format this thing?

Hello I just got a new HD for my powerbook G4....I have the OSX leopard disk but when I insert the disk it just shows a little folder in the middle of the screen.

How do I get into the disk util, isn't there a certain button I hold when starting up or something?

it should be under the installer "utilities" menu

Hold down the C key and the machine will boot from the Leopard disk. It has disk utility on it and you'll be able to format the drive and subsequently install.
