So I've been using a 13inch MPB for the last 5 years, and as you can imagine, I'm very used to that form factor.

I got the 16inch today and for some reason I just can't figure out a comfortable typing experience. It feels as if my hands and always out of place resting on the sides of the laptop, and I keep hitting the wrong keys.

Is this normal? Is it just me being unused to this size of a laptop? Do you think I will get used to it?

I prefer the butterfly keys myself but yea it was a little weird at first but I'm used to it now. Just keep typing on it it'll work out.

Why not rest palms on the trackpad when typing? Does it cause the cursor to move around and cause misclicking?

Well, it is a lot bigger so it sounds like you have to reach farther in to get to the keyboard. If you just received it today, at least you have 14 days to see if it gets more comfortable before you need to return it.

Give it a few days.

I felt difference between every Mac keyboard I've ever had or used extensively - 2010 11" air, 2011 15" pro, 2015 13" Pro (supposedly all the same generation), Magic Keyboard and 2020 Air. They've all had subtle differences in feel (and the 15" had a slight difference in reach).

IMHO the current keyboards are the best I've used. Give it a few days and it will start to feel natural.
