Hi everyone,

I'm one of the unlucky owners of an iPhone 4 which is sensitive to the death-grip. I was actually starting to believe that this issue affects every iPhone4 but not everybody can see it depending on how strong the signal is in the area where they are using it as explained here.

Just a few minutes ago I spotted one of my work colleagues using an iPhone 4 and I approached him to ask him whether he had read Apple's letter on the signal problem. He replied that he had not read it but he wasn't interested since the issue didn't affect his phone. I tried to explain to him all the signal bars theory that AnandTech taught us and he went: "here you have, test it yourself".

I have run 3 quick tests in different parts of the building where we work:

Test 1)
Mine: Before Death-grip: 5 bars on EDGE . After Death-grip: 5 bars still on EDGE.
His: Same results.

Test 2)
Mine: Before Death-grip: 5 bars on 3G . After Death-grip: 1 bar on 3G.
His: Before Death-grip: 5 bars on 3G . After Death-grip: 3-4 bars on 3G.

Test 3)
Mine: Before Death-grip: 4 bars on 3G . After Death-grip: 3 bars on GPRS!! and back to EDGE after a while.
His: Before Death-grip: 3-4 bars on 3G . After Death-grip: 3 bars on 3G.

For all the test I applied the Death-grip for nearly a minute.

Don't know what to think know. Are there similar tests to this these ones I have done today?

Probably the wisest thing is to return mine now and wait for a few weeks to see what happens. If my colleague's works fine, why shouldn't mine as well?
