Wondering if it's just me but I just can't get on with this change in the UI. Essentially every time you scroll down the page the bottom tab bar shrinks to the corner and the mini player shrinks to the bottom of the screen. Quite similar behaviour to what Safari has had for years.

The issue is in practice it's actually quite annoying. I'm used to just jabbing the next button when I'm scrolling through songs/albums, but now that disappears when you scroll down leaving only pause. So you press the bottom bar expecting it to enlarge like Safari, except the behaviour is different, and you get thrown into the full screen Now Playing screen. All I wanted to do was quickly skip a song! Isn't that the whole purpose of the mini player?

And of course to get to a different section of the app you have to press twice to open the tab bar and then select either Home, New, Library etc. All this to shave off a tiny portion of UI at the bottom of the screen there was zero issue with previously.

It's the same in Podcasts as well. I really want to turn it off!

There are more such stupid behaviors. Glass or anything else doesn't really matter. This system has serious usability issues. Whether it's frosted glass or an opaque flat surface is of secondary importance, and they won't improve the system's usability. And where is my compact tab in Safari for macOS and iPad?

On the one hand, I like the collapsed mini player as it takes up less screen space when I’m browsing the content. On the other hand, I hadn’t noticed the lack of skip button and that is really annoying. The only option seems to be clicking on the Home button to expand out the mini player, which at least avoids launching the full now playing screen. I thought maybe a right swipe across the mini player might invoke a track skip but alas it does nothing.

No changes in beta 4 so looks like they're sticking with this. It would be great to have a toggle somewhere at least to stop the auto collapsing but apart from that I've thought of a tweak which could improve the situation.

If the mini player popped up when you began playing something this would improve things. This is especially notable in Podcasts where I've got a muscle memory of scrolling down the list of new episodes, selecting one to play and want to jab the +30secs button a few times to get to the main content only to find the mini player has collapsed and I only get a pause button.

Likewise with Music you're most likely to be wanting to skip songs when you've just selected one to listen, and have the option to quickly move to the next one after you've heard a few seconds.

So yes, let's have the UI pop up you when you play something Apple! I've submitted feedback for this and hope they listen as it's so damn annoying.
