Just ordered a Logitech S530, have quick question

My PowerMac G5 is hooked up to my stereo via optical out, thus, the volume controls on the mouse are useless. Does anyone know if the volume buttons on the mouse can be reprogrammed to do something else, like activate Expose?

Yes, you get an extra icon (Logitech Control Center) in System Preferences which allows you to redefine any of the mouse buttons or the special keys on the keyboard.
