Just ordered an Older MacBook Pro..

Yep! I Already Have a White MacBook and an iMac, but I Love my macbook! But I Really love the aluminum Pros, and MacBook. Though it is the older one, I Still am going to love it, i got it for $499. So I Have a question. How Will this macbook pro handle lion, and compare to the 2010 MacBook Pro (I Say this because the 2010 macbook pro because it is the last generation with C2D - http://www.everymac.com/systems/app...o-2.4-aluminum-13-mid-2010-unibody-specs.html)

Is mine overall FASTER? And also I Don't expect to be playing BF3 or Crysis 1-2 at full settings, but how will mine do with gaming compared to that macbook pro and in general? Thanks!

Late 2007 MacBook Pro
15.4 Inch "Glossy"
2.4ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
4gb Ram (Upgraded)
nVIDIA 8600GT 256mb (I Wanted a nVIDIA card, but nothing lower than 256mb)
Superdrive
250gb 7200rpm HDD (Upgraded)
10.7.2
 
Should be all good ay, 4gb of ram is key for Lion at the moment until it gets refined a bit. That faster HDD is good too

Apart from the 8600gt ticking time bomb, it's a pretty solid computer. I have the generation after that which has multi-touch as well.

But no, it's in no way, shape, or form faster than the 2010 version.
 
I would immediately take that to any Apple authorized service provider and have them run the nVidia diagnostic to see if the GPU is bad. You can have no symptoms but still a bad GPU. It's only covered for 4 years and that model may already be over 4 years old.

thats what i plan on doing, it shouldn't be older than 4 years, but very close

According to the OP the 8600GT is 15% faster. The processors in the 13" are ever so slightly faster due to the increased front side bus and they drain less battery (2nd gen vs. 1st Gen). Overall I would call it a wash or 5-10% advantage on the older 15" due to faster graphics and faster HDD (unless you upgrade the stock 13")

Hey, that's an awesome machine and an awesome deal! I just sold mine! I upgraded to a 2011 MBP (2.0GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 antiglare screen).

btw, if you're looking for trackpad film/protector, I found an unused set in my office the other day. It will work on your MBP. I had one on mine for five years! Check out the link in my sig!
