I just ordered these two from Macmall (I had great experience with them in the past) and should be here tomorrow morning!

Anyone else have the 2.66GHz model? Also the only reason I chose the 4870 as to the 285 is because of the mini displayport.

Do you guys think the GTX 285 is what I should have ordered instead of the 4870?

You picked the 4870 for Mini DisplayPort, and you're asking whether you should have chosen the GTX 285 instead. The answer is no since the GTX doesn't have Mini DisplayPort... but you already knew that. I'm not sure there's a question here.

If I chose to use the standard GT120 card via mini display port, could the nvidia gtx 285 be used as the primary gpu under osx?

Yes. I think you might need to connect at least one monitor to the card you intend to be the primary GPU, though. I'm not sure.

Thats what I figured so I just went ahead with the ati 4870 since I'm going to be using my 24" LED ACD.

Congrats!

I was going to order one today, but I'm going to B&H tomorrow to see if they have any in stock, so I don't have to wait for it to ship. I have to pay taxes either way…

You could have ordered a dell studio xps, quad 3.33ghz 6gigs a ram for a couple thousand less than mp. But if you really needed osX's apps, than I could understand.

I'm sure jjahshik32 could have bought a car too, but I don't think that's a good supplement.

Resale value of a dell after 3 years: Less than 25% of original price.
Resale value of a Mac Pro after 3 years: About 50% of original price.

Stupid trolls
