Man I don't know why I didn't do it sooner. The screen is just TOO gorgeous and it doesn't do it justice at the store! I ended up getting the $1099 model (after student discount) and 128GB is plenty for me!

I'm just hoping that options will be available to upgrade the SSD in the future but for now 128GB is more than enough.

I just got the same one! 2.6ghz retina 128gb 8gb 13" MbP.

I paid $1440AUD (regular $1599AUD) with 10% off over here in Australia plus a $75 giftcard. With currency exchange right now it works out to $1250USD thereabouts.

Enjoy! :D

Upgrading the SSD is pretty hard for these retina models, with it being glued down. I'm never planning on upgrading mine -- I run a couple USB3.0 portables (750gb and 1.5terrabyte) that follow me around everywhere.

Enjoy! :D

It's not glued down! The RAM is the only thing glued down (onto the motherboard). Not the SSD. Its just "hard" to find rMBP SSDs for sale. Try eBay they are being sold there as parts.

disregard post.

SSD not glued down, haha. Sorry.

It is glued down. I for one wouldn't be replacing, and I know Apple etc. would be charging an arm and a leg to replace it.

Also, the Ram isn't glued down (that I know of), but it is soldered in making it pretty much impossible to upgrade.

I think the only thing thats glued is the battery. RAM is soldered on and the SSD can be removed by just removing one screw. Ifixit shows how to remove mid 2014 retina macbook pro's SSD.

I just got that same model too! Same deal except I also stacked the USPS Best Buy 10% off movers coupon to get an extra 10 percent off. Typing on it now.

I live in Sweden and here my Macbook Pro 9,2 with an i7 costs almost the double. I still love this machine, it's a beast.
