It's pretty nice so far. I don't mind the glossy screen, but my room is dark. Anything people want me to give opinions on? I'm going to xbench it in a minute...

I'd like a pic of the hinge from either side (profile). I ordered mine but am wondering how it looks from up close.

Thanks if possible!

Edit: With the laptop opened of course.

The screen. Any better or brighter than the previous model? And do colors go all wonky at certain viewing angles?

This is really the only thing I care about because I'm a spaz and can't handle tilting the thing if I'm moving around while watching dvds and the like.

This is me being greedy, but load Bootcamp on it and install Crysis and give us some benchmarks! :)

How's the wifi performance/reception? Do the wrist rests get warm? How's the heat overall?

seems like you have your hands full with all theses great questions :)

I was just wondering if you or anyone here knew if the ram slot location is the same. The past models it was easy to upgrade the ram.

Side note:

I was looking at the price of 4 GB DDR3 on the apple site and its $150 upgrade which is the same for the DDR2 memory upgrade.

Iono i thought it was kinda weird becuase DDR3 memory is a lot more $$$$ then DDR2

what do you guys think?

RAM will come down in price. Just a matter of time. I think apple just charges a flat rate for RAM. They wouldn't be making a huge profit margin like the past, but over time, it'll grow.

Thats what i assumed. Thanks for the super fast response. It was funny when apple tried to charge customer 400+ for a ram upgrade.

Yeah. I'd like to see if the hard drive is under the battery like it is on the standard MB. Would make it much more user replaceable.

The hard drive is very easy to replace. It's right next to the battery when you take over the cover. You can also unscrew the bottom very easily and add RAM. Also, It seems easy to take out the Superdrive, as I'd like to add an SSD in place of it. I don't use the superdrive much anyway.

Wifi is very subjective. It seems fine so far. Wrist rests haven't gotten warm yet, but I haven't really made this thing go. The heat is pretty minimal compared to 3 other Macbook Pro's I've owned. I'll keep you updated.

As for any photo requests, I can't do them now.

PICS!!! what kind of new mbp owner are you?

Cool :) As a corollary, how's the noise in normal usage (installing things, etc.)?

So far, this thing is silent.

Also, I'm kind of digging the buttonless trackpad. It's a little weird, but the space for navigating is nice. I thought you just click by tapping, but there is actually a mouse click for the whole pad! It's very strange.

Which processor did you get? A bunch of us in another thread have been trying to find someone with a 2.53 to run a CPU-z check to see if the MBP's 2.53Ghz CPU is a Intel P9400 or P9500.

The P9400 is a 35W CPU and the P9500 is a 25W CPU, both are 2.53Ghz penryn with 6Mb L2 cache, same size. So yea... we wanna know which one is in the MBP. If you have a 2.53Ghz one, please please help us figure it out. Thanks

Sorry, I have a 2.4 Wish I had the 2.8 though, but oh well!

has apple done anything about....

Could you please tell me if the machine runs hot like the last version of MBP?
Are the fans quiet?
Where is the ambient light sensor located?

Thanks!
