Just reinstalled OS X after a hard drive crash, new install pointers needed

I'm trying to remember as much as I can, but add some essential apps and downloads that I haven't remembered yet. Here's what I have so far:

-transmit
-vlc
-windows media player
-firefox/camino
-gamepad companion
-adium
-sidetrack
-handbrake

also, I remember using some kind of color sync program. Is it recommended to just use the one OS X provides? I could have sworn I downloaded some different one, but I can't really remember.

any pointers and advice is appreciated. thanks.

Um, I'm trying to download Windows Media Player, and it puts a file on my desktop called 'Windows Media.sitx'? What do I do with this? When I click it, it only brings up a "what app should OS X use to open this file" box.
