About a month ago i bought a late 2011 15' MBP with glossy screen,i had the 2010 15' i5 with matte screen.
After a few hours i came to the conclusion that i could not live with that mirror like screen.
So,i swapped the entire top lid,i also had to swap the wifi/BT card. The 2010 has 3 antennas and the 2011 has 4.
Sold the 2010(with the 2011 lid installed).
Now a week ago my kid(2 year old) managed to put a big scratch on the screen!
After searching around i found a link to laptopscreen on anandtech.
Asked if the screen is the stock Samsung they said it was an LG.
Decided to order it anyway.
Paid $130 with shipping to my country. It only took 3 days to arrive !
I followed the ifixit guide. The only real tricky/hard part is to remove the metal bezel.you need to be very patient and take your time.
Now with everything up and running i'm very pleased.
The old one(Samsung) had some minor bleeding on the bottom and the color gamut was 98% sRGB and 75% adobe.
This new one(LG) is just perfect.Color gamut 100% sRGB and 80%adobe.

how do u check th color gamut %?

I use a Spyder4 to calibrate and in the end it gives you the values.

Whats the difference between the Samsung and LG screens. Can you pick which one you want

Well probably they are very similar.
Before calibration both were very cool(blue).
After calibration the LG is very neutral.
The Samsung had a very slight green tint even after calibration.
But it was 3 years old.
Like i said this one is just perfect.
The guy at laptoopscreen only said it was an LG,so probably the stock they have now is LG only.
But at only $79 i was willing to take the risk.

can you provide where you bought the screen from?

I'm thinking of changing out my 1400x900 to the high resolution screen.

thanks
