Just scooped my first Mac (13 rMBP)! Now what

As a lifelong (23 yrs) pc user. What do I do with my new beast? As in how can I utilize it? Also, how should I handle the battery?

Here is all you need to know about the battery direct from Apple.

You should run software update by selecting it in the Apple menu at the top left of your screen. This will ensure you have any updates that came out since your machine was made.

If you have a spare external drive laying around, it is a good idea to use it with your Mac's included Time Machine software to do a backup.
