Just bought a PowerMac off Craigslist to use as a web server. Did I get a good deal or can these be found at the dump for fifty cents?

Paying $500 CDN, pick up tomorrow.

Apple Power Mac G5 Dual Core 2 GHz -

with 2 GB RAM ( 2 x 1 GB RAM, 2 more slots free ), DVD-RW, 160 GB hard drive

clean install of OSX 10.4.11, iLife ( iTunes, iMovie, etc ), all Apple updates, and MS office

Apple Wired Keyboard and Mouse, power cables, video cable... NO monitor ( sorry )

Works great... I can deliver and show you it working ( if you already have a monitor )

asking $600 obo ( open to offers )

Thanks

they can't be found in the dump for 50 cents or even a dollar. But I think it's an oK deal only. You get the a nice tower but a mini would make a better server IMO

For a webserver, I'd have to agree that one of he older minis would be a better machine; smaller, much quieter, much more power-efficient, etc. However, this isn't to say that the G5 is a bad machine; I still lust after one :p

There's nothing bad about a dualie G5; enjoy it!

Well, he did get a room heater as well, so depending on the weather, it might be a great deal ;)
