A 1st generation 16 GB touch going for $200 seems about right since the 2nd generation 16 GB one is $299.

Taking the same ~30% off the 1st generation 8 GB would put it around $160.

Someone probably just over committed and kept bidding up.

A week ago, I sold my iPod touch 8 GB 1st generation at 210$ on eBay.

With that money, I ordered a 16 GB iPod touch 2nd generation and when they're available, I'll go to my Apple Store to get those nice Headphones with Remote and Mic !
